mega = 1,000,000  The symbol is M

milli = 1/1000th (0.001) The symbol is m

milliSecond = 1/1,000th of a second   The symbol is mS

megaOhm = 1,000,000 Ohms. The symbol is MΩ

Acronym for Portable Appliance Tester – a portable device used for electrical testing of appliances.

Polarity refers to the wiring protocol for electrical appliances.  See AS/NZS 3760:2010 Appendix C.

The protective earth is a system to provide additional protection against electric shock. It is present in Class I appliances,  extension leads and powerboards.
