Fire Blanket Testing
Fire blankets work effectively in class F fires, which involve cooking fats and oils, as well as garment fires, in which the flames can be put out by encasing a person in the blanket. By stopping the oxygen supply, the blanket puts out the fire. A defective blanket can be hard to take free of its cover or have a rip that would let air in and ignite a fire.
Fire blankets are perfect for putting out minor fires because they are simple to use. Smothering the fire with the blanket prevents it from getting oxygen. For those who are less comfortable utilising fire extinguishers, their simplicity of usage may be beneficial.
Testing of Fire Blankets is carried out in accordance with Australian Standards AS1851:2012 – Routine service of fire protection systems and equipment, and must be completed every 6 months.
During our test, we will perform a visual inspection of surrounding areas to ensure the correct signage is being displayed, the blanket is accessible and the blanket and container are in sufficient condition. We will then generate a full report of the each blanket tested, it’s location, whether it passed or failed, and any suggested actions to take.
In an emergency, your blanket must be easily available and secure to use. Make sure your fire protection blanket is kept in good condition to avoid injury and property damage. We are committed to removing harm that can be avoided; if you make an investment in safety now, you will be glad you did.
