We all love a bargain and if we saw a cloned electrical appliance for considerably less price than an original, then most of us would buy it without giving it a second thought. Right?
Are these USB chargers safe to use?
But what if you discovered that “bargain” was not approved for use in Australia and was potentially lethal – you, or a loved one, could be electrocuted when you use it. Would you still buy it or use it?
This article supports the prime reason why our technicians FAIL any electrical appliance that doesn’t have an Australian Compliance Approval number. Every year we remove hundreds of such appliances from workplaces. When we find one and tell out client it’s been failed, it can be the source of some frustration for them until the risks are explained and understood – the appliance may not only be dangerous but LETHAL.

Now to be fair most people don’t know how to check if an appliance was approved or not. All you need to do is look for an approval number on the chassis – it must be there if it is sold in Australia. If you can’t find it, ask the seller to show you. If they can’t show you, DO NOT buy it.
If you have any USB chargers and you are not sure, DO NOT take the risk. DO NOT use it until you are sure or one of our technicians checks it for you.
